"With total focus Rachel popped for the last hold. She wasn't going to leave here till this climb was done"

Our Peak District Bouldering Course is one of our favourite outdoor courses to run. Bouldering is basically climbing short routes on 'boulders' and is one of the most accessible ways to get into the sport. It's a fast, physical, ridiculously addictive and an easy way to enjoy climbing without buying loads of gear. In this session we will cover all the basics of bouldering safely, as well as coaching you on vital techniques and showing you how to navigate using guides to get the most out of your future sessions.

What you'll learn...
  • Bouldering safety
  • Grading systems
  • Guide book use
  • Climbing techniques
  • Equipment use
  • Coaching
Who's it for?

Anyone looking for a fast, dynamic, incredibly accessible climbing activity. No previous experience is needed for this course. We aim on this course to make you into a fully independent boulderer, able to go anywhere in the world to enjoy this amazing sport.

Kit needed:

All climbing kit is provided, including shoes and chalk. If you wish to bring your own gear that's no problem.

Our start time and meeting point is at 9:30am at our centre. Here we will brief you on the day's activity whilst you help yourself to a free brew and biscuit. From here we will set off to the crag for an exciting day's learning. We sometimes we use areas further away from our centre so you can get the most out of your course, therefore some transport is advantageous. However if you are struggling for transport please let us know so we can arrange some for you.

How to book:

To book its super simple, we have 'Open Courses' which run regularly throughout the year on set dates. Just select which date works for you and book online.

If the open dates don't suit or you'd rather have us all to yourself, select 'Book Privately' and we will run this course completely private and bespoke to you, on the date you request. We simply add a small 'private booking fee' (£40) and need a minimum of 2 people to book.

Any questions at all please don't hestitate to Contact us

We will supply you with all the kit you need! Thats shoes, chalk and bouldering pads. However if you'd like to use your own thats no problem.

You will just need to bring / wear sutible clothing and food water etc.

We keep a very close eye on the weather at all times! If its just looking a little damp, overcast or showery the course will go ahead as normal and most of the time its never as bad as met office makes out! We are experts at finding dry and suitable areas to train you and our local knowledge is second to none. If however the weather is looking terrible for the duration of the course then you will be given the choice of re-booking onto another session later in the year and we will prioritise your booking over any new ones we recieve.

We are based in Upper Hulme in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands area of the west side of the Peak District. The medieval market town of Leek is no further than a 5min drive down the road and has plenty of super markets, pubs and shops to explore. 20 mins in the other direction and you arrive in the historical town of Buxton again full of shops, museums, cinema and a theatre.

If you're struggling to find somewhere to lay your head after a busy day out on the rock, we can recommend these places to get you started. All are within walking distance of our centre and are set in stunning locations.
