Summary:
Top roping outdoors is an amazing way to improve your own climbing and a great way to introduce new people to the sport. However accessing and building TR's safely outdoors is a skill within itself. This workshop is designed to develop your knowledge to keep yourself safe whilst building TR's and ensure those with you stay out of harms way. On this course we will teach you to rig up a climb using static ropes from the top so you can belay from the ground and climb with rope above the whole time. Outdoors we actually call this bottom roping, but thats a conversation for a later time haha.

Who's this for?
Anyone looking to further their knowledge within the sport! Top roping is a perfect way to enjoy climbing outdoors and or test your skills safely on harder routes without leading them first. Skills wise ideally you will have some knowledge of gear, common climbing knots and equipment. However understand everyone has varying levels of knowledge from different style and experience. To help heres a little check list of our essential skills. Course is open to 16+

Kit needed:
Your own harness and rack is desirable however we can provide you with any kit you need.
Itinerary:
Our start time and meeting point is 9:30am at our centre. Here we will brief you on the days activity whilst having a free brew and biscuit. From here we will set off into the crag for an exciting days learning. We sometimes we use areas further away from our centre so you can get the most out of your course, therefore some transport is advantageous. However if you are struggling for transport please let us know so we can arrange some for you. The day will end around 4:30pm.
How to book:
To book its super simple, we have 'Open Courses' which run regularly throughout the year on set dates. Just select which date works for you and book online below.
If the open dates don't suit or you'd rather have us all to yourself, select 'Book Privately' and we will run this course completely private and bespoke to you, on the date you request. We simply add a small 'private booking fee' (£40) and need a minimum of 2 people to book.

We are based in Upper Hulme in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands area of the west side of the Peak District. The medieval market town of Leek is no further than a 5min drive down the road and has plenty of super markets, pubs and shops to explore. 20 mins in the other direction and you arrive in the historical town of Buxton again full of shops, museums, cinema and a theatre.

We will supply you with all the kit you need! Thats shoes, chalk, harness, helmet the full works! We only use proper climbing equipment not crotch busting harnesses and normal group kit like many others use, if you're going to learn to climb then use the kit you're going to buy is our moto. If you have and like to use your own thats also no problem.
You will just need to bring / wear sutible clothing and food water etc.
We keep a very close eye on the weather at all times. If its just looking a little damp, overcast or showery the course will go ahead as normal and most of the time its never as bad as met office makes out! We are experts at finding dry and suitable areas to train you and our local knowledge is second to none. If however the weather is looking terrible for the duration of the course then you will be given the choice of re-booking onto another session later in the year and we will prioritise your booking over any new ones we receive.
